Nepal: Sunrise in Nagarkot
Nagarkot is a small town close to Kathmandu that is famous for its sunrises. The town is on the top of a 2300m hill which makes is located above the clouds.
We had to wake up at 4 in the morning to get there in time to see the sun coming up, but it was more then worth it. We had a sea of clouds right below us and the sun appearing from behind the mountains. We could see everything, the valley was covered in clouds, the tip of the Everest was right in front of us, the little houses spread around the hill (we had breakfast in one of them) and the mountains in the horizon were all covered in snow. Is was really cool, I think probably the best sunrise I’ve ever seen.
After, we went to Bhaktapur which is the third sacred city of Kathmandu Valley. We had to pay 11$ do get inside the city, and honestly I’m not sure it was worth it. It might have been because we slept 4 hours the night before and the heat was too strong, but the truth is we didn’t like it very much. The city is even poorer than Kathmandu (didn’t think that was was possible), we kept passing by places where the animals were sacrificed and there was blood everywhere, and the worst thing were the terrible smells. The streets were stinking everywhere, but that kind of smell that makes you sick. It was bad. There were two very nice temples though, but because of all that we couldn’t really enjoy them. One of the temples had 5 floors, and according to Raju (our “guide”), it was the highest Hindu Temple.
Sorry about the lack of photos, impossible to upload!
Now, we will go to a farm in Dading where we will do some WWOOFing and there will be no internet at all.
