Skydiving: almost like flying!

One day I was at home in Lisbon with a friend, when she received a call. It was Domi asking if she wanted to go skydiving the next day. She thought it was a crazy idea, but for me it sounded perfect.

I’ve always wanted to try skydiving but never had the company to do it with me. It turns out I had and I didn’t know.

In Portugal, the skydiving is always in Évora, a small city in the south country side. It was summer at the time so we booked the jump for 7 pm to see the sunset while we were free falling. The best idea ever! After the 1 minute free fall the parachute opened and we stayed in the air for like 10 minutes, that’s when we saw the sunset. Awesome!

It was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. The free falling is absolutely amazing, I never wanted it to end. When the parachute opened I just wished I could close it again and keep “flying”.

The most scary thing wasn’t the fall itself, but before. When we were in the plane and the door opened for us to jump, that was the moment when I just thought “what the hell was I thinking!!”. In those few seconds before jumping off I thought of giving up, but they told us that once you’re in the plane there’s no way back. So I had no choice.

It ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I felt like I was flying. I decided I want to do it once every 5 years. (I wish I could do more but it’s quite expensive)
